Regularly Scheduled Classes:

Updated Schedule for October:

There will be a couple of changes to the schedule for Oct.  Minor compared to the changes we have made in the past J.. We are now on a yellow schedule.

Power Hour 6:00AM:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 6:30 Energy Hour class has moved to 6:00am to better accommodate those that need to get in their practice and get on to their days activities.  The name change is to better a-line the class with our regular Power Yoga classes.  Power Hour is the hour version of Power flow which is a 90 minute class.  This class is a perfect way to power yourself for the day ahead.

What is in a name:

To better describe the various Yoga Flow classes that we offer at the Shala we have changed the name of our vinyassa style classes.  Power Flow has been split we will now be offering Power Yoga and Flow Yoga.  Both classes are for all level students, modifications will be given.

Power Flow:  Is a vigorous yoga class done in 80 – 85 degree heat.  Where breath moves you through this flowing practice.   We begin this class with variations to the Ashtanga sun salutations.  Postures will flow together offering vinyassas between linked postures.  Inversions, arm balances, core work, standing and sitting postures will be incorporated to put together a full body work out.  Yes you will sweat, breath and detoxify!

Yin Yoga comes to the Yoga Shala:

New Shala Instructor Anita Rosebush will be offering Yin Yoga Noon on Mondays:

In Yin Yoga specific postures are held passively for 3 – 5 minutes to access the dense fibrous ligaments or connective tissues of the joints.  The intention is to stimulate circulation in less flexible areas closest to the core of the body, the hips, lower back and sacrum.  When holding a posture without striving, a gentle tension is applied to the connective tissue that begins to counteract the effects of aging and gravity.  This is how Yin Yoga can preserve and increase the range of motion in our joints.  Yin Yoga encourages the use of prana and mindfulness readying one for meditation.

November:

Happy Birthday MySore:

Your are invited to come celebrate Ashtanga vinyasa yoga in the Mysore form.  Sarah is turning 30 and want to practice the Primary Series.   Warning this is not a class, it is a yoga event!  There will be no verbal instruction we will gather and go through the primary series at your own pace.  If you are not familiar with the primary series or do not know it all be heart David Swenson’s Ashtanga Yoga “The Practice Manual” would be a great reference to pick up and bring.  This book details the primary series posture by posture and is constructed in a way that it can lay easily in front of your matt while you practice.  The cost will be $5 per person.  Sarah is looking forward to practicing with all of you.

That is all we have for this month.  Thank you all for your continued support of the Yoga Shala Idaho.  We look forward to seeing you on the mat.  Till next month, My you see the truth, may you speak the truth, may you be the truth.

Namaste,

Don Silva
